Fractured fairy tales from a 50-something
I don’t know how many of you are sci-fi fans. If you’re a fan of the defunct TV show Firefly or if you are fond of the movie derived from the show called Serenity, then you are probably familiar with the term “bright & shiny”.
In this fictional world created by Joss Whedon, if something is going well or is on the ball, it’s referred to as bright & shiny. As in, “Everything’s bright and shiny Captain…not to worry.” However, in a misuse of the term, I believe my friend Dawn was seduced by the “bright & shiny” side.
Yes, she went out and spent $1700 on a new computer because “it was pretty”. Now, I have nothing against new technology. I’ve been seduced plenty of times by shiny bits of plastic and metal. And I know that she’s going to invite me over to play with her new “bright & shiny” and I will be drawn to the “bright and shiny” side.
So where is this going? Hell, I don’t know. I’m just jealous. Dawn, when you read this, phhhhhhhhttttt! (Or as she would say, spitting sounds).
The best explanation I can think of is to listen to the Bob Wayne's Weblog theme song. Yes, that's right, I have a theme song (conveniently stolen from "What Do You Want From Life" by The Tubes). Enjoy and don't forget to tell me what you really think!Official Bob Wayne's Blog Theme Song

What can I say, she’s a shiny little tramp with super powers and she knows what I like and how I like it.
