Fractured fairy tales from a 50-something
I love live theater. And Noel Coward is always entertaining. So, enjoying the largesse of the Divine Deb L., a lithe and sensous soprano who resides in St. Paul, Minnesota, a group of eight of us enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining evening of good acting and great writing watching Blythe Spirit at the Jungle Theater last night.
Noel Coward was a master of razor wit and and dry reparte. He loved stirring up the pot with a mix of zany, dry and straight characters while throwing in a dash of theatrics or schtick. And then letting the fur fly.
As for our little troupe, the Divine Deb L. met us at Fuji Ya, practically right next door to the Jungle Theater. How fortunate for us. It was a rousing hour of cocktails, wine, sushi and delightful conversation.
I would like to add, much to the credit of the helpful people at Fuji Ya, I was able to get five dollars in cash added to the bill so I could run out in the cold and chuck money into the parking lot machine. I just want to add my vote to having the cheap-ass owner of the parking lot be tarred, feathered and paraded through the streets for not letting people use credit cards to pay for their parking!
I mean, who the hell carries cash anymore? Almost every parking lot in the Twin Cities lets you pay with a damned credit card. If he has to charge a dollar more per hour so he can afford to put a machine from the 21st century in his lot, then do so! Let’s get out of the 19th century people!!!!!
Rant over. Where was I?
Oh yeah. Having a great evening of conversation, alcohol and sushi at a table with 6 beautiful women and one charming gentleman. Life is good.
We stayed after at the Jungle Theater until even the actors were starting to wonder when that little crowd in the corner was going to quit slugging down wine and get the hell out of the theater so they go get on a proper drunk. And so with hugs and fond farewells, the evening ended.
Many thank yous to the Divine Deb L. for the great tickets and to the always lovely Diva Drew for gracing my arm. And, of course, to the delightful group of lovely women who gave the evening so much sparkle! Beach Boys – I Get Around-short
The best explanation I can think of is to listen to the Bob Wayne's Weblog theme song. Yes, that's right, I have a theme song (conveniently stolen from "What Do You Want From Life" by The Tubes). Enjoy and don't forget to tell me what you really think!Official Bob Wayne's Blog Theme Song
