Fractured fairy tales from a 50-something
I’ll be dropping the Diva off at the airport around 4 o’clock today. The Rose Ensemble will be performing their new show, The Secret Society of Notre Dame in Birmingham, Alabama tomorrow night. I’m a tad worried about the tornadoes they’re having down there but the Diva Drew knows no fear. She’s ready to rock!
Yes, the caucuses have arrived in Minnesota. Now, don’t misconstrue my headline. I love democracy. I believe in it [unless, of course, I could be dictator - then you'd all be screwed]. And I don’t know about the Republicans but the Democrats believe there may be 75,000 to 100,000 people participating in their caucuses. Cool.
I get the biggest kick out of their description: A non-partisan, non-profit grassroots taxpayer advocacy organization for Minnesota. “Non-partisan”? “Non-profit”? That’s like saying the Jewish Defence League is non-denominational. Or the Pope’s not a Catholic.
The Diva Drew and I were watching TV tonight and saw an oxymoron in a commercial – a cool-looking Buick. That’s like saying Dick Cheney has a soul. Or Bush has a brain. We’re talking Land of OZ here. On top of which, I hate SUVs. I’m a gearhead and a sporty car guy. BMWs, Ferraris, Lambos, Astons, Maseratis, Koenigsegg, Pagani. Even Allards, Deuse’s and Morgans, for god’s sakes. But Buick?
The best explanation I can think of is to listen to the Bob Wayne's Weblog theme song. Yes, that's right, I have a theme song (conveniently stolen from "What Do You Want From Life" by The Tubes). Enjoy and don't forget to tell me what you really think!Official Bob Wayne's Blog Theme Song
