Fractured fairy tales from a 50-something
Piggy and I had an interesting discussion of primates this morning. As we all know, Piggy hates primates because of our predilection towards eating pork. Piggy has taken it upon himself to promote “the other white meat”…human.
Somehow, during our breakfast discussion this morning (over bacon and eggs, mind you), we got on the subject of Malcolm X and his assassination. My theory was that Malcolm X had analyzed how whites had kept the black population under control through fear, intimidation and violence. They had also kept the black population leaderless so they could “dominate the huddled masses.”
He had watched the disorganized violence of the riots and knew that such acts simply played into the unreasoned paranoia of whites. He concluded that the route to power and freedom was to take a page from the “white playbook,” turn the tables, and use organized violence and intimidation against the oppressor.
There was also an untapped resource in the smouldering anger of young black men who were turned off by Martin Luther King’s non-violent revolution. This anger could be forged into a spear point that could be thrust into the comfort zones of white America.
When he had his personal epiphany through his exposure to the Muslim faith and realized that change had to come from within; that the Black Community itself needed to change regardless of what whites chose to do or not do, his message changed remarkably.
Unfortunately, epiphanies and spiritual awakenings are a personal experience and when you are out front of everyone, they may not have that same personal experience. It’s very difficult for most people to change course to follow someone who is on a path of personal transformation.
The young black men he had led and molded into an organized force felt betrayed. Ergo, it was only a matter of time before those who still believed in the path of violence would take matters into their own hands and that was the end of Malcolm X.
Piggy, of course, had a different take. His view was that Malcolm X wasn’t getting any pussy preaching violence. Women don’t want to hear that crap. So he changed his tune and was suddenly surrounded by adoring women. Now the other guys weren’t getting any pussy and nothing pisses a man off more than not getting laid. So they rubbed him out.
Piggy is such a…well, a pig.
The best explanation I can think of is to listen to the Bob Wayne's Weblog theme song. Yes, that's right, I have a theme song (conveniently stolen from "What Do You Want From Life" by The Tubes). Enjoy and don't forget to tell me what you really think!Official Bob Wayne's Blog Theme Song
