Fractured fairy tales from a 50-something
Yes, this weekend saw much mayhem and debouchery at the Art Shanty Project on Medicine Lake in Minnesota as it drew the bleary eyed attentions of that infamous gang, Dr. B & The Madcap Geographers. Kind of like Sly & the Family Stone but without the ‘fros and the weird clothes or the music or…um…well, maybe that wasn’t a good comparison.
But, by god, they were there and they made the most of the day. For instance, here’s Dr. B now in her sexy and revealing, uh, snow suit. (Hey, it’s Minnesota.) Our cool isn’t like your cool…really.
So, what did Dr.B and the Madcap Geographers (not to be confused with the Madcap Geologers – they’re one floor down) spend most of their time doing at the Art Shanty Project? Hanging out in the Dance Shack, that’s what! Earth, Wind & Fire – Wish Upon a Star-short
But there were other hijinks going on. For instance, the Art Car Parade. (Which was indulged in at random times during the day as the Minnesota crazies got inspired or sobered up enough to get behind the wheel and drive around on a frozen lake.)
Oh yes, we’re talking major “not all there.” Did I mention the Fairy Car? Unfortunately my picture with the “fairy princess” rising in the car went missing. You’ll have to settle for the fairy car minus the fairy and her pink hair…
Of course, it gets a bit cold runing around on a frozen lake so, of course, there’s only one recourse but to run to the Dance Shack again to warm up! Oh my, is that Dr. B queing up? Kenny Loggins – I’m Alright – short
Well, I’m sure there were educational Art Shacks out there on the lake with great information and opportunities to learn and we toured most of them but the real entertainment was out on the ice as Evel Knievel jumped the Grand Crack on his Ice Chopper…
OHMYGAWD! We’re back in the Dance Shanty!!! B52s – Love Shack-short
Okay, so Minnesotans are nuts. You spend months at a time with nothing to look at but snow with your ass frozen like a pair of coconuts in a freezer and see how you break up the winter. B52s – Love Shack-tin roof rusted
The best explanation I can think of is to listen to the Bob Wayne's Weblog theme song. Yes, that's right, I have a theme song (conveniently stolen from "What Do You Want From Life" by The Tubes). Enjoy and don't forget to tell me what you really think!Official Bob Wayne's Blog Theme Song
